The arithmetic looks trivial until leap years, month lengths and weekends get involved - a two-year span can be 730 days or 731, a month can be 28, 29, 30 or 31 days, and a "week" of work is never seven days. Examples

Example 1 - A deadline. From 2026-01-15 to 2026-02-15: 31 days - exactly one calendar month, or 4 weeks and 3 days, 21 business days.

Example 2 - The leap year trap. From 2023-02-27 to 2024-02-27: 366 days, because the span crosses February 29, 2024. The tool handles it; most mental math forgets it.

Example 3 - A project span. From 2026-03-02 (Monday) to 2026-03-13 (Friday): 11 days total but only 10 business days - the difference between a calendar span and a work week.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are the days between two dates counted?
The difference is the number of days from the start date to the end date, counting the start date but not the end - the convention used for time spans, durations and deadlines. From March 1 to March 4 is 3 days, the way "due in 3 days" means it.
Are leap years handled?
Correctly, always. February 29 appears only in leap years, and the tool counts through it exactly - from 2023-02-27 to 2024-02-27 is 366 days, not 365, because the span crosses the leap day.
What is a business day?
A business day is Monday through Friday, excluding weekends. The tool counts them separately - how many workdays a project or deadline actually contains - without needing a holiday calendar.
What breakdown is given?
The total days, the same span in weeks and days, calendar months and years for the whole range, and the business day count. Each unit answers a different planning question, and all of them are shown at once.
Does the order matter?
No - the tool accepts either date first and returns the same span, reporting which of the two is earlier. Past and future dates are both fully supported.
