What is the GCF?
The greatest common factor (also called GCD or HCF) is the largest number that divides two or more numbers evenly. For 12 and 18, the factors are 1, 2, 3, 6 and 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18 - so the GCF is 6. It is the backbone of simplifying fractions: a fraction reduces when you divide by the GCF of its numerator and denominator.
What is the LCM?
