Frequently Asked Questions

How does Morse code work?
Morse code represents each letter and number as a unique sequence of dots (short signals) and dashes (long signals). A dot is one unit long, a dash is three units. Letters are separated by three units of silence, and words by seven units.
Can I decode Morse code back to text?
Yes. Switch to Decode mode, paste Morse code using dots (.) and dashes (-) separated by spaces (between letters) and slashes (between words), and the tool converts it back to readable text.
Can I hear the Morse code as audio?
Yes. Click the Play button to hear the Morse code as audio beeps at your chosen speed (WPM). The tool uses the Web Audio API to generate accurate dot and dash tones.
What characters are supported?
All 26 English letters (A–Z), digits (0–9), and common punctuation (period, comma, question mark, exclamation, apostrophe, slash, parentheses, ampersand, colon, semicolon, equals, plus, minus, quotation marks, at sign).
What does WPM mean?
WPM stands for Words Per Minute. It controls the speed of the audio playback. Standard Morse is around 15–20 WPM. Beginners typically start at 5–10 WPM.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. All encoding, decoding, and audio playback happen entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored.
