Remove duplicate email addresses from your list instantly. Detect duplicates with case-insensitive and alias-aware matching, show duplicate groups, sort, and export clean lists. Free online tool.

About Duplicate Email Remover

Duplicate Email Remover is a free online tool that instantly deduplicates your email list. Paste your addresses, click a button, and get a clean list with all duplicates removed — whether they differ by case, whitespace, Gmail aliases, or plus-tags.

Beyond basic deduplication, the tool offers alias-aware matching for Gmail and other providers, shows duplicate groups so you can see what was removed, provides breakdown stats, and supports sorting and multiple export options. Everything processes locally in your browser — your email list never leaves your device.

Features

  • Instant deduplication: Remove duplicate emails from lists of up to 50,000 addresses
  • Case-insensitive matching: Treats User@Gmail.com and user@gmail.com as the same
  • Gmail alias detection: Recognizes dots and +tags as the same address (j.doe+newsletter@gmail.com = jdoe@gmail.com)
  • Plus-tag stripping: Detects +tag aliases for all providers, not just Gmail
  • Duplicate groups view: See every group of duplicated emails with occurrence counts
  • Keep first or last: Choose which occurrence to keep when duplicates are found
  • Sort output: Alphabetical, by domain, or original order
  • Remove invalid: Optionally strip emails with bad syntax while deduplicating
  • Stats dashboard: Total, unique, duplicates removed, and percentage cleaned
  • Export options: Copy clean list, copy duplicates only, or download as CSV/TXT

How to Use

  1. Paste your emails: Enter email addresses one per line, comma-separated, or semicolon-separated.
  2. Set options: Toggle case-insensitive, alias-aware, strip +tags, or remove invalid syntax.
  3. Click Remove Duplicates: The clean list appears instantly with stats showing how many were removed.
  4. Review duplicates: Click 'Show Duplicate Groups' to see which emails had duplicates.
  5. Export: Copy the clean list, copy only duplicates, or download as CSV/TXT.

Examples

Case duplicates:

Input: User@Gmail.com, user@gmail.com, USER@GMAIL.COM → Keeps 1, removes 2

Gmail alias duplicates:

Input: j.doe@gmail.com, jdoe@gmail.com, jdoe+news@gmail.com → All three are the same inbox, keeps 1

Mixed list:

Input: 100 emails with 15 duplicates → Output: 85 unique emails + report showing which 15 were duplicated

Benefits

  • Save on email costs: Most ESPs charge per subscriber — removing duplicates directly reduces your bill
  • Prevent double-sending: Nobody wants to receive the same campaign email twice
  • Smarter than basic dedup: Alias-aware matching catches duplicates that basic tools miss
  • Audit before cleaning: Duplicate groups let you review what's being removed
  • Fast processing: Handles tens of thousands of emails in seconds
  • Private and free: No data uploaded, no sign-up, no limits

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this tool find duplicate emails?
The tool normalizes each email address (lowercasing, optional alias stripping, optional whitespace trimming) and groups identical addresses together. It then keeps only the first or last occurrence of each unique email.
What is Gmail alias stripping?
Gmail treats dots and +tags in the local part as the same address. For example, j.doe@gmail.com, jdoe@gmail.com, and jdoe+signup@gmail.com all go to the same inbox. Enabling alias-aware mode detects these as duplicates.
Does case matter when comparing emails?
By default, the tool is case-insensitive — User@Gmail.com and user@gmail.com are treated as duplicates. You can disable this if you need exact case matching.
Can I see which emails were duplicated?
Yes. The Duplicate Groups view shows every set of duplicate entries with their count, so you can review what was removed before copying the clean list.
Can I sort the deduplicated list?
Yes. You can sort the output alphabetically (A–Z or Z–A), by domain, or keep the original order.
What is the maximum list size?
The tool handles up to 50,000 emails. All processing runs in your browser, so very large lists may take a moment.
Is my email list stored anywhere?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. No data is transmitted to any server.
