How to use this tool

Paste a branch list or choose cleanup options to produce commands that first inspect merged branches and then delete only branches matching your selected rules.

  2. Review the generated result and warnings.
  3. Copy or download the result when it is ready to use.

Key features

  • Merged-branch inspection
  • Protected branch exclusions
  • Remote-tracking branch handling
  • Safe deletion option
  • Force-delete warning
  • Copy-ready command sequence
  • Upload branch list
  • Cleanup checklist

Safe cleanup

Start with git branch --merged and inspect the result before deleting anything. Keep protected branches such as main and develop out of cleanup rules.

Delete modes

git branch -d refuses deletion when Git believes commits may be lost; -D overrides that protection. Prefer -d for routine cleanup and reserve -D for deliberate recovery work.

Remote cleanup

Deleting a local branch does not delete the remote branch. Remote cleanup should be an explicit second step so accidental local cleanup does not become an unintended remote operation.
