Enter each task with a duration and its predecessor, set a start date, and the tool computes every start and finish date, flags the critical path, and draws a Gantt chart.

How to Use

Example 1 — Linear build. Demo → framing → rough-in → inspection → finish: each waits for the prior, so total is the sum.

Example 2 — Overlap. Electrical and plumbing both follow rough-in with no link to each other: they run in parallel on the Gantt.

Example 3 — Critical slip. Stretch the foundation task and every downstream task shifts; the critical flag shows the impact.

Example 4 — Buffer. Add float by giving a non-critical task slack; the end date does not move.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are start dates calculated?
Each task starts when its predecessor finishes (or on the project start date if it has none). The planner runs a forward pass so every date is consistent with the dependencies you enter.
What is the critical path?
Tasks with zero slack — any delay pushes the whole project — are marked critical. The planner approximates this by comparing each task’s finish to the project’s latest finish.
Can tasks run in parallel?
Yes. Tasks with no dependency on each other start as soon as possible and overlap on the Gantt chart. Only a predecessor forces a wait.
What if a task has two predecessors?
It starts after the later of the two finishes, matching how real sequencing works when multiple things must complete first.
How is total duration shown?
Total duration is the calendar span from project start to the latest task finish, not the sum of all task days, because parallel work overlaps.
Does it add weekends?
The dates are calendar days for simplicity. For crew-only working days, add buffer to task durations or pad the schedule.
Can I export the schedule?
Yes — CSV, JSON or plain text with each task’s start, finish, slack and critical flag, plus the Gantt as a list.
Is my data stored?
No. All scheduling runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded, saved or logged.
