The Roofing Cost Calculator converts your footprint area into actual roof area using a pitch factor, splits the job into material, tear-off and labour per square, and adds wastage so the quote is complete.

Example 1 — Architectural shingle. 1,800 ft² footprint, 6/12 pitch (×1.118 = 2,012 ft²), 20.1 squares, $150/sq material = $3,015, tear-off $90/sq = $1,809, labour $140/sq = $2,814; ~$7,638.

Example 2 — Metal, no tear-off. Same area, $300/sq material = $6,030, labour $160/sq = $3,216; ~$9,246.

Example 3 — Steep slate. 12/12 pitch (×1.41), $800/sq material + $200/sq labour on 25.4 squares = ~$25,400.

Example 4 — Waste. 10% on 20 squares adds 2 squares of material (~$300).

Example 5 — Two layers tear-off. Double tear-off rate raises removal cost ~60%.
