The MOQ is the smallest quantity a supplier is willing to produce or sell in one order. It is set to make the supplier’s production and setup economically viable. Understanding the cost impact of the MOQ is important, because setup and fixed costs are spread across the ordered quantity.
Why does the unit cost fall as the order size increases?
