What sets the filter flow rate?
The peak instantaneous demand - several fixtures running at once - because the filter sits on the whole supply. The daily total sets how much water the media must process before service.
Contaminant vs technology?
Sediment wants a depth or cartridge filter, chlorine and taste want carbon, iron wants an oxidizing iron filter, and scale control a softener or scale inhibitor. Each has different flow and capacity behavior.
